African-American History Month

In honor of African-American History Month, our book club will be reading The Freedom Maze, by Delia Sherman. Set in both 1960 and 1860 alike, this historical fiction book explores slavery, courage, and women. The novel won the 2012 Prometheus Award and the Andre Norton Award.

Did you know that celebrating Black History started in 1926? Both Frederick Douglas and Abraham Lincoln had birthdays in February. Originally celebrated the 2nd week in February, by 1976, the celebration increased to one month.

English 10

Today I went to English 10 to introduce the students to some of our databases for their Wuthering Heights research project. They were shown the features of Literature Resource Center and Biography Resource in Context. We did sample searches of the Victoria Era, Queen Victoria, the Bronte sisters and more.

Great work Sophomores!
